An Improved Water-Augmentation System for Turbine Engines
Empire Ideas presents a system to dramatically improve the thrust of an aircraft style turbine for use on ultra fast ships...
For the first time in history HARTH™ technology is paving the way for reliable and efficient high-speed marine travel. Just as revolutionary is Empire Tech's engine design to power these incredible vessels. By adding water to the exhaust and bypass air of an aircraft style turbofan, Empire Tech has the ability to literally double the thrust output of the engine.
Jet engines create thrust by forcing heated air and exhaust rearward. Just like a rifle kicks when it shoots a bullet, a jet kicks when it shoots air. Of course the jet is shooting a tremendous amount of air backwards which allows it to create a significant amount of thrust. Now imagine if the jet wasn't shooting just air, but also water; which is about 784 times denser than sea-level air. Now the jet isn't shooting a blank, so to speak, but a big heavy bullet which will create a large amount of kick and thrust!
HARTH™ technology, spearheaded by the HydroLance Corporation, has opened the doors to marine travel that is so fast that using a jet engine on a boat finally makes sense. Coupled with an improved water augmentation system, these jet-powered vessels will be the most efficient means of transporting cargo, troops, vacationers, and travelers world-wide for years to come.
A dramatic example of using water augmentation on a jet was demonstrated in the 1960's by an independent inventor who augmented the exhaust of a pulse jet he was using as an outboard. He recorded an increase of thrust from 2.5 HP to over 35 HP; an increase in thrust of 1400%! This dramatic success is due to the fact that he started with an extremely inefficient engine to be used as an outboard. However, even an increase in thrust of only 200% (which is extremely feasible) would save the marine/travel industry billions in fuel costs.
While augmenting jet engines is not a new concept, Empire Ideas has improved the design so the system is beneficial or not detrimental at all speed ranges of the marine vessel, utilizes a low profile water scoop while providing constant water injection, allows for the augmentation of the high temperature exhaust at slower speeds which can be beneficial for initial acceleration, minimizes or eliminates the drag of the injection system on the gaseous flow, offers control over the amount of water augmentation, and offers a greater amount of water augmentation than previously known.
